After WW I, Belgium rebuilt its breweries while secular breweries broke from their traditional monastic roots. Lighter colored beers became all the rage, with Belgian Tripel being the flavor of the decade. Not to be outdone, one brewery decided to brew a beer even lighter colored than a Tripel while producing a drier, higher alcohol beer that was less fruity and more spicy. It was so drinkable yet strong, one of the first people to taste it outside of the brewers declared “This beer is the devil”. The name was changed from Victory to reference the Devil. Our Devil is a tribute to the original utilizing light colored Pilsner malt, Belgian candi sugar, and a style specific yeast that produces pear and apple aromas and flavors while delivering white pepper spice in just the right amount to balance. The flavors are absolutely delicious, subtle, and the alcohol is completely hidden. Just like that original shopkeeper, you will have to be careful while you enjoy your first encounter with the Suwanee Devil.

“Cheers to my great friend Phil Farrell for making one of the very best Belgian-style golden strong ales I’ve ever tasted outside of Belgium. Suwanee Devil is loaded with gorgeous golden malt notes and spicy fermentation esters from the classic Belgian yeast.”
