(In my best ringside announcer voice): The Quartet in Gwinnett is proud to bring you The Smackdown in Suwanee Town, The Thrilla’ in da Chilla’, The Melee Sudden Death Fight to the Finish— The First Annual StillFire Battle of the Brewers. Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!

Two of the favorite hats I wear at StillFire are Beer Planner and Talent Hunter. I have always prided myself in the way we hire brewers at StillFire.  They aren’t simply people who can make beer, but people who are passionate about the craft and those who literally love creating new things. I am a product of my upbringing. In the Air Force, we trained every new fighter pilot to grow into a valued member of the team and eventually be the leader of the entire operation. My former airline only hired pilots who could one day be airline Captains flying across the globe. The US armed forces also encouraged competition to elevate everyone’s skills.

Ever since we started StillFire, I had this idea to create a way the brewers could compete and let the customers decide who the winner was.  My goal was for us to deliver 4 new beers at the same time for our friends in the taproom to decide the winner.  I am extremely proud of these four beers. They are definitely four distinctly different beers that we have never made before at StillFire and in my opinion they are each worthy of your consideration for champion.  Each was brewed by a different brewer. The only rules were the beer had to be a new recipe for StillFire, the beer had to be brewed between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we wouldn’t allow barrel aging or a blend for this “match”. I didn’t have to do any planning for 3 of the 4 beers you are going to try.  We kept our names off the card so that the beer alone would have to win your vote.  The voting is open from Jan 4th through the close of business on Super Bowl Sunday. All you need to do is get a Battle of the Brewers’ Flight any time you visit the brewery and circle whichever beer you think is the best.

Feel free to revisit the beers and vote as many times as you give them a try. Who knows, the beer that is behind in the early rounds may become your new favorite before the final bell. Even if you don’t want to compare them anymore, please order a full pour and enjoy your new favorite beer of all time. That’s all for today.  I will be writing these more often in 2022.  I hope you enjoy reading them.

Cheers,

Phil
