Q: Who got in so much trouble at Stillfire that you hung their pants from a rafter in the brewery?
A: Actually no one got in trouble. It was better than the night Ralphie’s Dad received his “major award” in Christmas Story. We received an awesome package from @weyermann_specialty_malts. As a recipient of a Bronze Medal at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival for Orange Diva, Weyermann sent our Brewmaster a pair of their world-famous red overalls, a trucker hat, a certificate and an invite to Bamberg to tour their malting facility. We use Weyermann malt in all of our European beers, including Orange Diva, and Weyermann appreciates our loyalty as much as we appreciate their malt products. Weyermann has been recognizing winning breweries for a while and this is a tradition I am proud to now be a part of. Since these are fitted overalls, we can’t really pass them around to take turns wearing and Weyermann keeps them extra exclusive by not offering any for sale. If it was up to me, we would all have one since we brew and win as a team. I may be getting ahead of myself, but my goal is to keep up the success of our first year by hopefully winning enough times in the future that everyone on our brew team will have their own pair of red overalls. It isn’t as farfetched as it sounds. We had another entry this year advance to the medal round at GABF, and as luck would have it, it also used a majority of Weyermann malt as the base. So it isn’t true that we put brewers in Time Out when they misbehave by lifting them 12 feet in the air. We thought of doing that to keep G away out of the Glory Haze, but that is a subject for another blog.
